The Industry Access Initiative is a series of sessions, workshops and masterclasses aimed at giving you direct access to key members of the Abbey Road Institute & Studios 301 community. Featuring some of Australia’s best engineers, producers, music makers, artists and key industry people, the initiative aims at highlighting and showcasing the people who make up our community and the greater Australian Music Industry.

Our next Industry Access Sessions features an up close and personal sit-down with UK vocalist / producer / artist Steve Spacek. As an artist, Steve has been on the forefront pushing the boundaries of music in soulful aesthetics, innovation and technology, best illustrated in his many artist’s projects and collaborations including Mos Def, Thundercat, the late great Leon Ware, iconic producer J.Dilla, Johnny Marr (The Smiths) and Dave Ball (Soft Cell) to name a few.
The session will include an in-depth talk with Steve as he takes you through his career and his approach to making music and collaborating. During this session, Steve will also illustrate his approach to making music via iOS to complete his latest projects and how he is integrating this back into traditional methods.
This session will be accompanied by an audience Q&A and an introduction to the Abbey Road Institute.

South London-born artist, vocalist, producer & music pioneer Steve Spacek pushes boundaries in aesthetics, innovation, and technology.
With a career spanning over 25 years, Steve has fused soul and future-tronic beats in collaboration with artists including rapper Mos Def, Thundercat, the late great Leon Ware, iconic producer J.Dilla, and Mark Pritchard as Africa Hitech. Throughout Steve’s career he has released music on some of the most forward-thinking labels across the musical spectrum – Island Universal, Warp, !K7, Eglo, Ninjatune, Exit Records, and now his imprint, SPA.
You may also be familiar with Steve Spacek from being a global lecturer for the Red Bull Music Academy initiative. For many years now he has been at the forefront of creating via iOS technologies and his adaptation of the songwriting process to a mobile rig with emergent music technologies. Steve will be contributing his knowledge of connecting technologies like iOS mobile apps with DAW Logic, performing as a multi-instrumentalist and music technologist, and navigating collaborations with other creatives.
