Studios 301 announces the arrival of producer/engineer/mixer Guy Gray to their Sydney roster following his recent return to Australia. Having worked throughout famed studios in Asia and North America, including the Hit Factory in New York City and Schtung Music in Los Angeles/Singapore, Guy has received multiple ARIA nominations and his film soundtrack work has won Asia’s highly coveted Golden Horse and Golden Melody awards.

Guy’s 30 years of experience includes engineering scores, large orchestral recordings, surround mixing as well as music production for successful film projects throughout Australia and Southeast Asia, most notably Young Einstein (1988) (Best Original Music Score – Australian Film Institute Awards)Return to Nim’s Island (2013)Dance of the Dragon (2008) (winner of 10 US film festival awards) and Seediq Bale: Warriors of the Rainbow (2011) (Best Original Score – Golden Horse Award, Best Original Soundtrack – Golden Melody Award). He has also worked on the sound design for numerous ad campaigns for major brands like Coca ColaChevrolet and Garuda Airlines.

After starting his career at Studios 301 in 1981, Guy went on to become a senior in-house recording and mix engineer for artists such as The Rolling StonesDuran DuranBon JoviJoan JettCyndi Lauper and Paul Kelly. His engineering credits can be found on multi-platinum selling records such as Midnight Oil’s ‘Diesel & Dust’ and David Bowie’s ‘Tin Machine II,’ as well as the official Australian Olympic team song ‘You’re Not Alone’ in 1988.

Guy is excited to be rejoining the Studios 301 roster. “This is where it all started for me 30 odd years ago and it’s still my absolute favourite place to record. The staff and facilities at 301 Sydney are second to none and the results always speak for themselves.”
