Mastering Suite 4
Specifically setup for digitisation and transfers, Mastering Suite 4 is located in our Mastering building with mastering-grade acoustics and isolation. Equipment on hand includes Pro Tools HD, Sequoia and Wavelab workstations, cassette and DAT decks, record players and ¼” and ½” analogue tape machines.
Mastering Suites 1-3
Our state of the art Mastering Suites feature impeccable acoustics and sound isolation, and house some of the highest quality equipment available. When needed, these suites are used to handle large/complex jobs, or to provide specialist restoration or mastering services as part of our service offerings.
The Machine Room
The Machine Room, nestled amongst our large format recording studios, houses our multi-track tape machines. Setup with large I/O Pro Tools HD systems, this area has the capacity to run multiple formats at a moments notice.
We have the best in-house workshop of any commercial facility in Australia, keeping the best test equipment and a plethora of spare parts on hand to service a full array of playback machines.

Widely acknowledged as one of the world’s leading music studio technology experts, Stephen is the longest serving member of the Studios 301 team.
With experience working in major studio facilities in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Montserrat, his unique skills and exceptional expertise provide an exclusive service to 301. During his tenure at Studios 301, he has overseen all major digitisation jobs from a technical perspective.
Owen’s foray into audio production was at the age of 16, working in live sound at all-age events. He started his studio career under the mentorship of Lachlan Mitchell at Jungle Studios, as well as attaining a Master of Recording Arts through Macquarie University (2011).
Since joining Studios 301, Owen has established himself as a Senior Engineer, working with artists such as Stevie Nicks, Will I Am, Birds Of Tokyo and The Jezabels, and has been team leader in Digitisation at 301 for over 2 years now. His primary role Digitisation this is to digitise tapes of all formats and ages, advising and implementing quality control across projects, inspection and appraisal of the condition of tapes and media, advising on baking techniques and best practice for storage.
Owen has project managed and digitised tapes for clients such as INXS, Cold Chisel/Jimmy Barnes, Macquarie Radio Network, Universal Music, Liberation, and Paul Mac.
Dave Taylor studied Bachelor of Sound and Music Design at UTS (2013-2015) After completing a successful internship with Studios 301 Dave was appointed the role of General Assistant, assistant engineering on many sessions and became an integral part of our 301 digitisation team.
As a digitisation Engineer at Studios 301 Dave has been involved in many of our key projects including SLNSW & SBS. He is proficient across the digitisation of many formats and an experienced operator using software such as Samplitude, Sequioa, Dobbin and Quadriga.
Frank has many years experience in recording, digitisation and transfer techniques, and advanced DAW operation.
Harvey joined Studios 301 in 2013, following on from experience in mastering, digitisation and transfer techniques, and advanced DAW operation.
Project Manager/ Operations Manager
Ron is a motivated music industry professional who oversees and manages the operational requirements for the studio facilities at Studios 301 in Sydney.
Leading and supporting the Studios 301 management team, Ron combines his proven track record in business management and recruitment in the engineering and banking sector with his extensive experience in the music industry.
